Dear Support,Seems like the service crashes regularly on W2k8 R2 servers. This also occurs on all servers on 2008 R2. Using 8.8.02.Please give us a workaround or howto to get it works with Win 2008 R2.

I recently installed Microsoft Hotfix 975530 on our Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 with Hyper-V role installed. The Yosemite Backup Service still crashes after about one to four minutes. I'm still unable to backup the machine, but more importantly I can't use the attached LTO-4 tape drive which is desperatly needed.

I too am having crashing with 8.8.02 although not just on my win 2008 R2 server. My master server is a Win 2003 R2 and the service will not even start. After install the database was completely corrupted and the software would repeatedly try to fix it. I finally deleted the database totally and started over fresh. After this I was able to build all my file selections (it ran extremely slow compared to old versions) and over night the service crashed and the backup never ran. Now I'm unable to even start the service. This version is horrible. I've never had problems like this with Yosemite until the 8.8.02. Did I mention it runs VERY VERY slow compared to the older versions?

You have to do more communications, guys ;-)The last Update, 8.8.02.54something, seems to fix the error on my R2 machines... i have run the first seccussfull backups on a server core r2 and a server std r2, everything fine (including recovery)... haven't tested the 8.8.01 pe-files though, will there be a pe-files version for the 8.8.02 soon?still got errors 4030/4038 with my tape device, but this is another threat

the PE package does not change from build to build, any 8.x PE package should work just fine.

I wish that I could say the same. I'm back at 8.8.01.50859 because the hotfix 8.8.02.54415 running on XP SP3 as a group server exhibited all of the problems talked about in this discussion. Fortunately the roll back, which was a full delete and reinstall hadn't been in place too long so I am only having to recover a few weeks of back up records, but this is the second time that I have been burned. I think that I shall wait to see what falls out of all of this because there seems to be a fundamental bug in this software update.
