I am very inexperienced with certificates, but have created some in the past using a test Exchange 2010 server and getting it to work with a trusted certificate that I purchased from GoDaddy.

I am now setting up a real configuration, and I have a Barracuda 340 setup to use a CAS Array on my 2 Exchange 2010 servers (which works), but when I try to upload the certificate I downloaded from GoDaddy, I get the above error.

I chose "OTHER" and the files I got from GoDaddy were:
  • gd_bundle.crt
  • <fqdn>.crt
I tried both under "Signed Certificate", but no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

You are just uploading the certificate. You need to upload the certificate and the key that was used to generate the certificate.

How did you get your certificate from GoDaddy?

A. Did you buy a new certificate from GoDaddy ?

B. Did you create a 'Certificate Sign Request' and asked GoDaddy to issue a certificate for you?

In case of 'A' the zip file or what ever that you downloaded from GoDaddy will have the key and any other intermediary certificates that are required.

In case of 'B' the key will be available where every you created the 'Certificate Sign Request'
