1. you mentioned that that we should not use compression together with deduplication but the default policy supplied uses compression together with deduplication.
Or did you mean do not use the old stream or paket compression together with WAN Optimization ?

2. what type of comression is used (stream or paket) if i specify compression in the WAN Optimization Policy ?

Hi Stefan,

if I mentioned do not use Tunnel compression (Stream or Packet) together with the new WAN Opt Compression this is true for NG Firewall Firmeware 5.2.0 till 5.2.2. Because prior to 5.2.3 we don't care about that setting and try to compress the traffic twice.

With Firmware 5.2.3 just the traffic which isn't matched by a WAN Opt Policy is compressed with the Tunnel compression even Stream or Packet depending on your setting if enabled. If a WAN Opt Policy e.g. for TCP Port 80 exisit this traffic will be compressed just by using the WAN Opt Compression which is more effective and no longer twice (Tunnel compression is then skipped for TCP 80)
