We have received feedback that many of our users have mail servers that have become unavailable as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

In order to assist our customers during this period, we have decided to extend our business continuity feature that spools emails when destination mail servers experience a disruption in service. We had previously spooled emails for 4 days in the event of a failed mail server and have decided to extend it to 10 days.

Our business continuity features enable customers to forward emails to a secondary email server and to spool emails during disaster recovery situations like this one. During this time, users can log into the service to check email. Once the end destination mail server has recovered, the Barracuda Email Security Service will then deliver your mail for a fast restoration of email messages.

You can enable the spooling feature for a domain in the “Settings” configuration in your Domains -> Domains Manager section. For additional information on setting up the spooling feature in your Barracuda Email Security Service, please visit Barracuda Networks’ TechLibrary: http://techlib.barra...+of+the+Service

We hope that this provides you with the additional time necessary to recover from any outages during this period. Please stay safe.

As we receive news that our Northeast customers will continue to be without power for as long as another week, the Email Security Service Team has decided to extend the period for which emails are spooled to 20 days.

We will continue to monitor the recovery from the outages in the Northeast to support your efforts for a full system recovery.
