We would like to turn on the feature to validate recipients' email addresses. The LDAP connection to our eDirectory server works, but we have some valid email groups and aliases that do not live in LDAP. One solution would be to use the LDAP lookup to find all valid users, and put the groups and alias addresses in the Explicitly Accepted Users list. In the Recipient Settings, if we enable both "Use LDAP" and "Use Local Database", will the Barracuda deliver messages if the recipient is found in either one of the locations (LDAP or Local)?

you can turn on both LDAP and USE LOCAL for your domain and it will use both for validating users.

It is easier, if your mail server supports it, to enable SMTP verification on your mail server so that it rejects connections for invalid users at connection. The Barracuda will check this which will let it keep up with any changes made to your user base.

Note that you can use LDAP or LOCAL for logging in but not both. So if your local users need to log into the barracuda you will need to have all users with a local password created.
