Hello,

I have situations where I have to completely rebuild the master server.

After all jobs are completed I run a custom Job that backs up the database folder to another location.

I then rebuild the server and re-install YSB.

I stop the services , rename the database folder to database_old and copy the database folder from the backup location to the YSB Install folder.

I then restart Services and associate the media to the new system.

The part is the Gotcha I have to run the import to bring the media into the system so it can be used for restores and this can take days to weeks to complete

Is there any way I can back up the catalog so I don't have to go thru this Import Process

Paul,

If you are in a situation where you need to rebuild the master server or want to move the master server, there are a couple ways of doing this.

It seems as if you are already backing up the catalog and are trying to get around Importing the media after the server has been recreated.

The easiest solution to this would be before you recreated the server, stop the Yosemite service, and copy the entire database folder to another location (thumb drive, NAS, etc).

Once you rebuild the server and install Yosemite you simply stop the YSB service again, copy the database folder back over, then start the YSB Service. This will retain all of your jobs and media information.
