It would be highly appreciated if the NG would support the BNG protocol. The Deutsche Telekom AG is switching all its customers already since 2014 to this authenication method in favour to PPPoE which will be discontinued according to the technichian I spoke to this morning. BNG allows - among other stuff on ISP side - the user to be authenticated by his line, so there is no longer a login necessary.

 

This means, that we will need a router in front of the NG Firewall to access germany's largest providers connections, which is a problem - I do not want a more or less crappy non-secure box, if a modem and a NG would work out nicely.

 

Also, it means that there is no single-box-solution possible - at least not with a NG-F.
