I am getting Non Deliverable messages for Office 365 that I do not understand.

"Your message to journal at bma dot int couldn't be delivered"

"Your message contains invalid characters (bare line feed characters) which the email servers at bma dot int don't support."

What can I do to fix this?

Nobody has any suggestions?

I opened a Ticket with Barracuda Support they replied back with:

"Currently the BMA is unable to accept Bare Line Feed Journaling. I have added your case information to feature request #BNMA-12191 to increase visibility to the dev team. There is no configuration change that can be made to get the BMA to accept these messages.

Let me know if this makes sense or anything else I can assist with.

Best Regards

xxxx

I guess I'm supposed to let it error out and pretend all is well? <_<

Hi David,

Sorry for the slow reply, I didn't get the usual notification for this.

There is a possible workaround. One of my colleagues was able to successfully use the BDAT command, via telnet, to send a message to BCAS using a Windows Server 2012 R2 SMTP Relay.

This means that it may be possible to set up a send connector in Office 365 to relay mail through an on-premises SMTP Relay to the BMA.

We are working on developing a more straightforward approach to this (BNMA-12191, as our tech mentioned), but there's not a timeline I can share right now. If you do get it working with a relay, please let me know.

Thanks,

Any update on this?  I have been googling and I see other email archive products have made concessions to allow these BareLine Feeds.

Hi Matthew!

Yes, I do have an update. We have this as our top priority and are actively developing it right now. I don't have a firm date for you, but call in to support in about a month and ask for a patch for this. We expect to have it ready by then. It will be in the next firmware release after that if you don't want to patch and want to wait for it to be in the mainline firmware.

Thanks,
Maxwell Lazaroff
