Email Security Gateway ssh / telnet access

I'm now using Email Security Gateway 300 and I planning to monitor its system status by some kinds of monitoring app (e.g. Nagios, Zabbix, etc.)

I know SNMP only available start from model 400 and up. As the monitoring apps also support monitor through provide the ssh / telnet credential. Is model 300 can login through ssh / telnet ?

If none of them available. Any way I can monitor the system status ?

There are many services/programs out there that will provide you with the status of an SMTP server (which is what the ESG basically is)

Nagios does this as well as many others.

That is about the only monitoring you can do on a model 300

You can also write your own scripts that can do the same thing by telneting to the unit on port 25 and watching for the correct connection result.

The ultimate test is a script that connects to the ESG, sends a message, and then looks at the destination mail server to see if it got the message.
